My ultralight journey started on a Sunday afternoon in 2023 when I suddenly felt inspired to weigh every single piece of gear that I owned and put it into a spreadsheet. I soon learned about LighterPack, and switched over – but I still weigh every piece of gear I bring on trail with me.

With some new UL gear upgrades this year, I finally have a realistic gear list that will keep me warm and comfortable down to about 30°F. The one addition I’d love to have on the list is in-camp shoes, some sort of sandal that I can wear socks with. My go-to for regular trips is Crocs, but they weigh a bit too much to make the cut on this particular list. If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears!
